In May 2018, Euler Hermes published its 6th Export barometer. Conducted every two years, it is based on a survey, conducted in January and February 2018, with more than 800 local businesses located throughout France about their development plans and international operations. Most of the firms interviewed are SMEs and industrial mid-size companies.

The barometer reveals that more than 8 exporters in 10 hope to increase their overseas orders, a rise of five percentage points since the previous survey. This rise in exports would be possible in most cases by greater exports in markets where the firms already export. The United States, China, Morocco, Germany and Spain are the most frequently cited markets by businesses.

Another piece of good news is that 72% of companies explain that their international development has arisen through exports from France (versus only 64% in 2016), illustrating the strong regain in interest of French exporting businesses for France.
