The 2018 edition of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU, ShanghaiRanking) awards faculties for 54 subjects based on their research performance.
France stands out this year, with the University of Montpellier ranked first in the world for ecological research, ahead of the University of Oxford! French universities are particularly well represented in mathematics, with 16 institutions among the world’s top 100, and also stand out for physics (11 establishments in the top 100).
On the global ranking of academic subjects, the University Grenoble-Alpes stood out more than any other in 35 disciplines, including 11 times amongst the 50 top institutions.
