Why should we recruit a VIE intern?
The VIE International Internship Program is a simple and flexible solution to boost your international growth and attract young talent.
What is the VIE program?
Developing your business internationally requires time and dedicated resources. To encourage businesses to look for new sources of growth abroad, the French government created the VIE International Internship Program when it passed the law of March 14, 2000.
This international mobility program enables you to recruit and send a talented young professional aged between 18 and 28, from France or another country in the European Economic Area, on an assignment abroad, for a period of six to 24 months.
You choose the assignment that matches your needs, whether it’s a market study, commercial canvassing or strengthening of local teams, etc. You set the length of time and we take care of the rest, from planning to the implementation of the assignment, and throughout its duration (HR, financial arrangements).
The advantages of the VIE program
Whether you’re a startup, an SME, a mid-size company, or a large group, and whether you’re a first-time or a seasoned exporter, the VIE program enables you to fast-track your international development and attract young talent.
A controlled budget
The cost of a VIE project is set by the French government and depends on several factors:
- The destination city/country.
- Your business’s revenues.
- The nature of the assignment.
You’ll pay your intern a fixed monthly allowance, exclusive of any other remuneration.
Other costs to be expected are related to:
- The fixed costs of management and social protection related to the VIE scheme, which depend on the business’s revenues and the number of interns.
- Travel and round-trip baggage transport costs.
- Operational expenses, which are linked to the type of assignment (for example: office operating costs, travel, visa costs, etc.).
The big advantage of the program is that it is exempt from social security contributions in France and that various forms of financial assistance are available, including: the Research Tax Credit, the Export Development Loan from Bpifrance, and aid provided by your region.
