According to recently published figures from car manufacturers, new car sales in France rose sharply in June. Sales of light-duty vehicles (passenger cars and commercial vehicles) rose by just over 9%, representing growth of nearly 5% over the first six months of 2018.

Since the beginning of the year, new car registrations have totaled nearly 1.19 million, compared with 1.13 million in the first half of last year. The companies benefiting from this increase are mainly French brands, such as PSA, Citroën, Peugeot and Groupe Renault. Foreign manufacturers, on the other hand, suffered a slowdown, declining just over 4% over six months.
