The city of Paris saw a record number of visitors in the first half of 2018, with 17.1 million hotel arrivals recorded between January and June, representing an increase of 4.1% on the same time last year.

Proud of this result, the French capital is looking forward to receiving the figures for the current tourist season. “After an already exceptional 2017, 2018 is set to break all records,” declared a spokesperson for the Regional Tourism Committee.

Among the nationalities most in love with Paris are the Americans (1.25 million hotel arrivals), who remain in the lead, followed by the British (982,000) and the Germans (592,000). What’s more, tourists have not held back when it comes to spending, with revenues reaching €10.3 billion in the first half of 2018.

These figures are good news for the French government which aims to see 100 million foreign tourists visit France by 2020, surpassing the record of 87 million recorded last year.
